FAQ

Questions before you book.

The practical details are here. If your question is not answered, send me a note or book a free fit check.

Availability and location

Are you accepting new clients?

I am currently accepting new virtual clients. My existing in-person availability in Langley and Maple Ridge is full while I transition my practice toward the Kamloops area.

If you are specifically looking for future in-person availability, contact me directly.

Where can virtual clients be located?

I provide virtual clinical counselling to clients who ordinarily reside in British Columbia.

If you will be travelling or temporarily outside BC at the time of a session, please tell me in advance. Whether the session can proceed may depend on where you will be physically located.

Do you offer in-person counselling?

My current in-person caseload in Langley and Maple Ridge is full. I am transitioning toward the Kamloops area and am not currently advertising new in-person openings.

You are welcome to contact me if in-person availability is important to you.

Services and fit

Who do you work with?

I work with adults and couples. My practice is affirming of clients of all genders and sexual orientations, 2SLGBTQ+ clients, and sex workers, and is informed by extensive work with trauma, public safety, justice involvement, and complex systems.

What happens during the free fit check?

The fit check is a free 20-minute call. We will talk briefly about what brings you in, what you are looking for, and whether my approach, scope, and availability line up with what you need.

It is not a clinical counselling session, and you do not need to tell me your whole history.

What if I am unsure whether your approach is right for me?

That is what the fit check is for. You can ask questions, tell me what has or has not worked in previous counselling, and get a sense of how I work before deciding whether to book a full session.

If my approach is not the right fit—or if what you need falls outside my scope or availability—I will be straightforward about that. I have a broad professional network and am very happy to refer out and help you find a counsellor or service that may be a better fit.

Sessions, fees, and benefits

How long are sessions, and what do they cost?

Individual clinical counselling is $165 for 50 minutes.

Extended individual clinical counselling is $250 for 75 minutes.

Couples clinical counselling is $220 for 50 minutes.

The 20-minute fit check is free. Rates are in Canadian dollars.

Do you offer direct billing?

Direct billing is currently available through TELUS Health eClaims for participating benefit plans, as well as Sunlife. Registration with additional insurer portals is in progress.

Availability depends on your insurer and specific plan. If direct billing is not available for your plan, payment is due at the time of your appointment and you will receive a receipt to submit for reimbursement. You remain responsible for any amount not paid by your insurer.

Will my extended health plan cover sessions?

Many extended health plans include services provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). Coverage varies by insurer and plan, so please confirm that your plan covers RCC and/or CCC services before booking.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. The terms for late cancellations and missed appointments are provided during booking and in the informed-consent agreement.
