Online counselling in British Columbia
You do not need to live nearby to work with me.
I offer virtual counselling to adults and couples across British Columbia. We meet through Jane’s telehealth platform, from wherever you actually live.
Where we meet
Online is just the room.
Some people choose virtual sessions because they live outside a major centre. Some work shifts, travel, have mobility or caregiving constraints, or do not want to run into their therapist at the grocery store. Some simply prefer to talk from home.
Whatever the reason, I work online the same way I work anywhere else: actively. I listen, ask questions, make connections, teach skills when they are useful, and say what I think is happening.
Fit should not be limited by postal code.
What we might work with
Most people do not arrive with one neat problem.
You do not need to sort your life into one category before reaching out. These are some of the areas I work with. They overlap because people do.
Trauma and repeated harm
You may understand what happened and still be dealing with what it left behind: vigilance, numbness, shame, avoidance, anger, difficulty with trust, or reactions that arrive before thought does.

The subject changes, but the fight keeps ending in roughly the same place. We may work with recurring conflict, distance, damaged trust, intimacy, or decisions about staying or leaving.

The work can change what you notice, what you carry, and what feels safe to say. Critical incidents, cumulative exposure, moral injury, organisational betrayal, sleep, anger, privacy, and career concerns may all be in the room.

Grief may carry guilt, anger, relief, resentment, unfinished business, or a loss other people do not fully recognise. It does not need to be tidy before you bring it in.

Harm, responsibility, victimisation, offending, incarceration, stigma, systems, and reintegration may all be part of the same story. I work with people who have experienced harm, caused harm, or are navigating both.

I will not disappear behind the screen.
I will not sit silently and expect you to make every connection yourself. I may slow something down, point out a contradiction, ask the question we keep moving around, or suggest a different way to understand what is happening.
Sometimes the work is practical: get through the week, reduce the intensity, sleep, make a decision, stop a pattern from getting worse. Sometimes we need to look underneath it. Usually, it is some combination of both.
You can disagree with me. You can tell me I have misunderstood. The work needs enough honesty for both of us to say what we actually think.
Before you decide
Read what you need. Skip what you don’t.
The practical part
A private space. A reliable connection.
- Use a phone, tablet, or computer with a stable internet connection.
- Choose a place where you can speak without being overheard.
- Headphones can help, but choose somewhere your own voice cannot be overheard.
- Do not join a session while driving.
- Be physically located in British Columbia for the appointment.
Fees, benefits, and direct billing
Know the practical details before you begin.
Your extended health plan may cover counselling provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). Check the eligible designation and coverage amount before your first session.
Direct billing is available with Sun Life and GreenShield, and through TELUS Health eClaims for participating plans, including Canada Life, Manulife, ClaimSecure and Chambers Plan. Availability depends on your specific plan. You are responsible for any amount your plan does not pay.

Sometimes it isn’t.
Online counselling is not right for every person or every situation. It may not be workable if you cannot speak privately, cannot use the technology reliably, or need emergency or more intensive support.
We can talk about that during the fit check. If I do not think online work with me is appropriate for what you need, I will say so directly and discuss other options where possible.
A place to start
You do not need the whole story ready.
A free 20-minute fit check gives us enough time to talk briefly about what is happening, what you are looking for, and whether I am likely to be useful. Bring what you have. We can work from there.
